Using a mix of new and existing parts, the permanent installation of an optically accessible combustion channel was undertaken. This included design and fabrication of the support table and module carriers to easily move channel sections. A control valve panel and gas piping were built with a separate mixing chamber to prepare gas mixtures. High-speed schlieren optical access and data acquisition system allow for the investigation of high-speed combustion events. System modularity allows for a huge range of interoperability with other in-lab designed components, giving the ability to investigate almost any high-speed combustion event in detail.
