Retaining Wall and Concrete Pad

A retaining wall was built to support a concrete pad for a wildlife resistant waste collection box. Ground-contact rated 4x4 lumber was used for the wall which included perpendicular sleepers embedded into the gravel fill to resist wall tipping. Geo-textile fabric was used to prevent fine soil from being washed into the the gravel fill and blocking water drainage, which could lead to premature failure of the retaining wall. Compacted 3/4" crushed stone provided excellent drainage and base for the concrete pad.
